'Angel baby'
The top of the head pokes above the lectern. Hardly.
Little Reilly, every six years, stands on a stool, elegantly dressed in a black suit and pink tie. His father, Brian O'Rourke, takes the microphone within his reach.
The room at George Darte Funeral Chapel is silent.
"What should I do first?" he whispers to his father.
"You read your letter."
The letter is Carleigh. His little sister. He catches his breath.
When you're born, you were very cute. I must take for the first time before dying.
I really miss you. I wish you could keep your body.
Gramma Sharon will hopefully good care of you.

Carleigh is cradled in the arms of his mother.
She wears pretty pink dress with organza Mom, Patty, had chosen when she was pregnant. During the dress, she has a white knit sweater.A strip of pink hair push through a culture of hair and on her feet, tiny ballet socks with the words, Mom loves me.
Carleigh lived for eight days.
And in those eight days, O'Rourke honored his life.
They created memories. Took photos and video. And after his death, they have him bathed, rocked her and let their boys, aged seven and five years Brady Reilly, touch and cuddle with her.
In other words, they did what they considered useful and good for them.
Sharing their story feels like the right thing to do, too.
Just days after Carleigh dead, Patty read an article in The norm of a couple who had lost a baby at birth. She realized she was not alone. And it gave hope and strength for the future.
She hopes to do the same for someone else.
By opening her heart, she wants people who do not have an "angel baby" to better understand parents like her who do.
While her journey through the pain will change, it will never end.
Never.
She never "get over it."
She never be comforted by suggestions like: "You can always have another baby" or ". At least you never got to know her very well"
And never knew that she was sick in utero Carleigh mitigate the intensity of his pain.
