DURHAM - The roof over a section of the historic Liberty looped images during a storm Monday - weeks after the city condemned a portion of another building.
The collapse hastened an effort safety investigation by inspectors from the city and forced many tenants to close indefinitely. Nobody was injured.

City officials have worked with GreenFire to display the area of concern related to the notice on April 11 but were denied access because the company wanted the city to jump through hoops too, "said Hester. "We tried to climb onto the roof, last Wednesday," said Hester. "They put so many stipulations. We just said 'forget it' " and started looking into a different route.
Hester said talks with Greenfire will resume Monday.
Webb said he was unaware of any hoops the city had had to deal with. "In actuality," he said in the statement, "the City indicated they no longer needed to inspect the roof after being granted access by Greenfire.
